The foods we eat, the air we breathe, the water we drink and the climate that makes our planet habitable all come from nature.
Yet, these are exceptional times in which nature is sending us a message:
To care for ourselves we must care for nature.
It’s time to wake up. To take notice. To raise our voices.
It’s time to build back better for People and Planet.
This World Environment Day, it’s Time for Nature.

With all that is happening in the world right now, it’s never been more prominent to protect the incredible environment around us – it’s humbling.
The core team at RS are life-long water fanatics. We’d like to think we’ve developed some great boats for people like us and for the next generation, so we want to do our part to protect the environment we all enjoy.
The marine industry trails behind car manufacturers in terms of engine emissions and a defined future for alternative energy. Evolving environmental attitudes and imminent changes to law around the world are driving demand for a different approach to boating that removes the negative impact of a fossil fuel burning motor.
With 25 years of design and build experience in zero emissions boating, RS’ Pulse58 will blend proven automotive electronic technology and an extremely efficient electric drive optimised hull form, with the highest level of sustainable construction of any boat in its sector.
- Materials – Here are just a few stats worth nothing; all core is made out of wood and PET Core (recycled Plastic bottles), 26% Bio content infusion epoxy, enriched basalt fiber (full recyclable and reusable very low carbon manufacture footprint), natural flax fiber and Sustainably sourced glass fiber and carbon reinforcement.
- Electric – our drives are electric providing zero-emissions in operation, smooth running, reliability and low noise. No need to fill up petrol tanks.
- Battery – Pulse58 uses a bank of Powerful Lithium Ion batteries from a long proven automotive supplier that have been sealed and marinized to IP54. Delivering an impressive 57KWh (in standard configuration at launch) at 104v, the battery bank is reliable for 2000 charging cycles at +85% and are individually controlled.
We, at RS, view this as an ongoing commitment – the job will never be done. We aim to continually improve and to set the sustainability standard within our part of the sailing industry which we hope others will follow.
